Technology Milestone: Say Hello to our Form 3L

The team at ITERATE have been incredibly excited in recent days due to the long-awaited arrival of our Form 3L, a large format resin 3D printer (Formlabs). We’re delighted to share that since returning to our Chepstow office, the Form 3L has made a welcome addition to our busy workspace. Restrictions may have made some things harder but we’ve seen first-hand that innovation has continued to thrive. The arrival of our Form 3L is timely for the design team who remain busy helping imaginative startups and bold businesses bring new products to life. This new investment into a large format 3D printer will open the door to even more 3D printing possibilities for both the design team here at ITERATE and our Clients. We’re ever more ambitious to push the boundaries of what we can achieve with our Clients using 3D printing techniques – the Form 3L is our latest step.

ITERATE Welcomes Junior Electronics Engineer, Matthew Bajjada

Last week, I embarked on the next challenge of my career with ITERATE Design + Innovation, after graduating from Swansea University with a BEng in Electronic and Electrical Engineering in the Summer.

I was excited to learn that ITERATE Design + Innovation was searching for a Junior Electronics Engineer to join their ranks, especially given their growth over the last two years. The platform the position has offered me, for both personal development and experience, will help me develop in the next phase of my career. I look forward to building upon the three years of engineering knowledge I gained at university and this position will give me specific insight into design engineering in the context of product design.

My Remote Internship

As part of my Masters degree in Product Design at Cardiff Metropolitan University, I was required to complete an industrial placement. I was extremely lucky to be given the opportunity to undertake a 4-week internship with ITERATE Design + Innovation. Due to social distancing guidelines, it was agreed that the internship should be undertaken remotely. During the placement, I undertook bi-weekly conference calls with Gethin Roberts (Managing Director) and Thomas Gray (Product Design Engineer). This was a great way to update them on my progress but also gain feedback, support, and guidance. As a result, I was tasked with the development of a medical/healthcare product that leveraged SigFox technology. SigFox technology is growing tremendously with its low-power ability to connect sensors and devices, with the aid of small byte commands. Read more

How Additive Manufacturing Assisted in the Fight Against Covid-19

The onset of coronavirus has fundamentally changed the way we live. At the beginning of the crisis, it was feared that the NHS may not have the capacity to cope with the surge in demand and that items of personal protective equipment (PPE), vital in the protection of health care professionals from contracting and transmitting the virus, were in short supply. It became apparent that existing supply-chains and production lines of equipment such as N92 masks; face shields; scrubs and gloves could not adapt quickly enough to meet demand; therefore, a rapid response was required.
