The Client
Scented Silicone is an exciting company who have patented the process of adding fragrance and flavours to silicone rubber at a molecular level. The unique manufacturing process that has been developed ensures that the silicone retains its scent for the life-time of the product.
Design Challenge
Whilst this material can be applied to a vast array of products, the aim of this project was to develop a number of car key fobs for the Volkswagen Group. The novel key rings would allow a car to smell brand new for its life-time, rather than the first few days of ownership.

Our Solution
Following an extensive phase of concept generation, two preferred designs were selected by the client. 3D models of both designs were created using specialist CAD software, which allowed a series of photorealistic visuals to be produced. Using in-house 3D printing capabilities, flexible prototypes could be built.
Final Outcome
Whilst these key rings have been designed with the VW Group in mind, they can be adapted to suit any company brand. Once the client secures a significant order, the next step would be to create the production tooling in China so that the fobs can be manufactured in high volumes.
