ITERATE is a dynamic product design consultancy based in Chepstow. We are focussed on developing innovative products from an initial concept right through to production, and work with a diverse client base that includes start-up companies to well established organisations. We are unique within the industry as we enable our clients to be ‘first-to-market’ using a proven development process that allows new products to be conceived within a rapid time-frame, and have a track record of developing technology, healthcare and industrial products. Due to the recent growth in the company and winning a succession of new projects a position for a Graduate Product Design Engineer will be available.
We are seeking a flexible and ambitious individual who has the desire to create exciting product experiences, and has the tenacity and attention to detail to ensure that their designs achieve commercial market success.
As a Graduate Product Design Engineer, you will:
- Undertake technical and commercial research related to new product developments
- Generate new design concepts and ideas using digital sketching techniques
- Create 3D CAD models of parts, sub-assemblies and assemblies
- Demonstrate the effectiveness of new designs through prototyping and testing
- Present your design ideas to team members and clients in a professional manner
- Engage with third parties such as suppliers to source any required components
- Visit relevant trade shows and strategic project partners to accumulate industry knowledge
The successful candidate should posses the following skills and attributes:
- Good understanding of engineering principles and product development processes
- Good understanding of 3D CAD systems, e.g. SolidWorks, Onshape, Fusion
- Good understanding of high volume production processes, e.g. injection-moulding
- Good understanding of rapid prototyping processes, e.g. FDM, SLA, SLS
- Basic understanding of electronic prototyping using Arduino and/or Raspberry Pi
- Should be hardworking and committed to achieving design excellence
- Should be flexible and have the ability to learn and apply new knowledge
- Should be methodical, analytical in their approach and able to critique their own designs
- Should be able to verbally and visually communicate design ideas to individuals and groups
The successful candidate should possess the following qualifications:
- BA / BSc Product Design and or similar, e.g. Engineering Design, Mechanical Design, Electronic Product Design, Product Technology, Design Innovation. MA / MSc is desirable but not essential for this role
